Middle School Community Service
In addition to the outreach programs that WES students participate in, the Middle School students also fulfill 10 hours of community service each year.
Some of these activities are school-sponsored such as:
- Little Falls Parkway cleanup as part of the Adopt-A-Road Program
- Making holiday and birthday cards for nursing home residents
- Attending birthday parties at nursing and assisted living facilities
- Capital Crescent Trail clean-up
- Collecting toiletries for Bethesda Cares
- Making and delivering sandwiches for Bethesda Cares
- Helping at a local church's Fall Fair
Our Middle School students also volunteer each month at Rosemount Children’s
Center, an organization affiliated with the Episcopal Church that
provides comprehensive childcare and education for infants and very
young children of low- and moderate-income families, especially within
the Spanish-speaking community.
Students may also pursue community service opportunities outside of school by volunteering at their churches, synagogues, neighborhood groups, homeless shelters, scout troops or other organizations that provide services to the community.
