Science and Innovation
Exploring, Building, Discovering
At WES, science leaps off the page and into real life. From curious explorers in Early Childhood to budding scientists in Middle School, our hands‑on STEM program empowers students to question, discover, and innovate at every stage.
Our science program is designed to develop 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, creative thinking, entrepreneurship, and collaboration. Students learn key knowledge and skills across various topics, honing their ability to ask higher-level questions and investigate complex ideas.

Hands-On Learning
The science journey at WES begins in Early Childhood with playful, hands-on investigations that build curiosity and foundational understanding.
In the Elementary years, students explore life, physical, and earth sciences through engaging, project-based learning aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards. Tools like LEGO WeDo, Sphero robots, and the Dragon Innovation Lab bring their ideas to life, while field trips and guest experts connect lessons to the real world.
In Middle School, students apply the scientific method with increasing depth and independence. Sixth graders conduct research projects and study earth science, including a geology-focused trip to the desert southwest. Seventh grade focuses on life science—genetics, ecology, and evolution—while eighth grade explores motion, energy, and chemistry through lab-based physical science.
Across all grades, the WES science program cultivates curiosity, creativity, and confidence, preparing students to think critically and lead with knowledge.
