The Library of Congress recently announced the winners of the first round of the 2018 Letters About Literature writing contest. This contest asks students to write to the author of a book that has had an impact on their lives. The Class of 2018 wrote to a rich variety of authors. Two of our eighth-grade students have had their letters chosen as state finalists. Emily N. wrote to Michele Scott about Silent Harmony. Clara K. wrote to Lisa Genova about Still Alice. Both girls will represent WES at the state finalist ceremony on May 12 at the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Auditorium at Mercy High School in Baltimore. Congratulations!
