At WES, our Dragons are always on the move, turning the world into their classroom!
Our Early Childhood explorers dive into hands-on adventures like Adventure Theatre, Imagination Stage, Homestead Farm, and Brookside Gardens. They marvel at animals in the National Zoo, pick apples at the orchard, explore local ponds, and enjoy awe-inspiring visits to the Kennedy Center and Washington DC monuments.
Our Elementary students embark on exciting journeys, soaking up the sun at Breezy Point and stepping into history at the U.S. Supreme Court and Mount Vernon. Creativity and language come to life at the Kennedy Center and Planet Word, while the National Gallery of Art and the National Museum of African American History and Culture inspire new perspectives. Adventures continue at Harpers Ferry, with Grade 5 Dragons experiencing their first overnight trip to Bretton Woods, building character and confidence for future middle school escapades.
Our Middle School Dragons embark on amazing learning adventures throughout the year, visiting the National Gallery of Art, the Chesapeake Bay, and Caroline Furnace to build teamwork and gear up for their end-of-year trips. Grade 6 uncovers the geology and history of the Desert Southwest, Grade 7 dives into the rich culture of Italy, and Grade 8 immerses themselves in the captivating cultures of France and Spain, practicing their language skills.
These experiential learning trips are essential for understanding different cultures, histories, and arts, preparing our students to be global citizens with a well-rounded perspective on the world!
At WES, experiential learning isn’t just an outdoor adventure—it’s a thrilling indoor journey, too! Our students are far from just sitting behind desks; they’re actively engaged in hands-on projects that bring learning to life. Picture them conducting exciting science experiments, where they become young scientists exploring the wonders of the natural world. They also create vibrant art pieces that express their unique perspectives and participate in dynamic group activities that foster collaboration and teamwork. Our classrooms are buzzing with energy and creativity as students immerse themselves in interactive lessons, build intricate models, and solve real-world problems. By learning through doing, our students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, cultivate a love for discovery, and have a blast every step of the way!
