Our Library buzzed with excitement as eight WES alums, now thriving high schoolers, returned to share their journey from WES to secondary school! Representing eight different independent schools and spanning 9th to 12th grade, these impressive students spoke about how WES prepared them with study skills, the courage to try new sports, unforgettable study trips, the thrill of performing in the Grade Six Musical, and the importance of kindness in new communities. Their stories, brimming with gratitude and confidence, reminded us all why WES is such a special place. Don’t miss the video to hear their inspiring insights and favorite WES memories!
Congratulations to Claire Collins ’11 on competing in another Olympic Games! We were incredibly proud of Claire, a two-time Olympian who represented Team USA in the 2024 Paris Olympics in Women’s 8 rowing, seated in the #6 spot. A WES “Lifer” from PK3 and a McLean, VA native, Claire excelled in multiple sports before discovering rowing at Deerfield Academy. At Princeton, she became a four-time Ivy League Champion and earned numerous accolades. Claire’s inspiring journey from WES to the Olympics reminds us to “Dream big!”
Every year, WES proves that it opens a wide range of opportunities for its students. The Class of 2024 contains 28 kind, intelligent students who are going to 22 different high schools: private and public, large and small, religiously affiliated and non-sectarian, traditional and progressive.
Their futures are unlimited!
