The Washington Episcopal School Community was saddened by the profound loss of Deighton Alleyne III on September 9, 2014 due to complictions from a stroke. Mr. A possessed a zest for life that was contagious and a generous heart that allowed him to share his many talents with all who had the good fortune to have known him. To honor Deighton, the school gymnasium has been named The Deighton Alleyne Gymnasium; the Coaches Award, presented to a Grade 8 boy and girl in recognition of outstanding athletic performance, leadership, and commitment to WES Athletics, will be renamed the Deighton Alleyne Coaches Award; and The Deighton Alleyne Memorial Fund has been established by his family and the school.
The Deighton Alleyne Memorial Fund
Established in September 2014 by Mrs. Delores Alleyne and Ms. Denise Alleyne, this fund recognizes a teacher, coach, mentor, and friend who blessed the Washington Episcopal School with his presence from 1997-2014. The income from this fund will support the education and growth of students at WES for years to come.
