Throughout the week there are many wonderful opportunities for WES students and families to learn more about the arts at WES and in general, as well as, to celebrate out students' outstanding artistic expressions and creations. Join us for:
Opening Exhibition and Reception
Thursday, April 13, 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. First Floor – Kick off Arts Celebration Week with a Wine and Cheese Reception! Parents come view work of all students, N-8. Various artworks will be on display THURSDAY ONLY!
WES Community Art Project
April 13-20, Main Lobby - Become a part of the show and participate in Dots!, our community art project, inspired by the artistry of Yayoi Kusama, currently on display at the Hirshhorn Museum. We are creating our own installation -- so come place your dot, and see how our project evolves over the course of the week!
Art Tour for Parents and Children N-8
Enter the Raffle for a Chance to Win an AC Moore Gift Certificate!
Weekdays, April 13-20, 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. – We invite parents and children to walk throughout the halls of WES and discuss the artwork! Parents may tour without children, but children MUST be accompanied by parents before and after school.
Raffle for Gift Certificate and Rainbow Crayon Giveaway
- After touring the show, get an entry form from the Main Lobby.
- Fill it out the entry form to enter your child in a raffle to win an AC Moore Gift Certificate.
- Turn in your entry form to the Main Office and immediately receive a rainbow crayon.
- Drawing for the basket of art supplies will be Friday, April 21.
Class Art Tours
April 13-20 – N-Grade 8 will tour the art show for their morning meeting to reflect, share, and enjoy the art!
Guest Artist Presentation
Tuesday, April 18 – Ceramicist David Epstein will demonstrate pottery on the wheel and lead students in a clay exercise.
Wednesday, April 19 - We welcome ceramicist and WES Alum Tyler Veirs '06 as he demonstrates pottery on the wheel and lead students in a clay exercise.
Spring Band and Choral Concert
Thursday, April 20, 7-8 p.m. The Deighton Alleyne Gymnasium. Come hear beautiful music featuring students in Grades 4-8 at the Annual Spring Band and Choral Concert. All are welcome.
