2017 Arts Celebration Week
Click art (above) to see a slide show of WES artwork and artists at work!
In April, a school-wide arts celebration provided many wonderful opportunities for WES students and families to learn more about the arts at WES, and experience outstanding artistic expressions and creations.
An art opening exhibit and reception kicked off the week with displays of artwork from each student, from Nursery through Grade 8.
WES Community Art Project
We looked to artist Yayoi Kusama and her wildly popular exhibit at The Hirshhorn Museum, Infinity Mirrors, as inspiration for our community art project, "Dots!". WES students, faculty/staff, families, exchange students, and visitors placed a dot (or a few!) at our own colorful installation.
Grades 1, 2, and 6 toured the interactive Infinity Mirrors exhibit which proved how accessible and creative art can be.
Two ceramicists, one of whom is a WES alum from the class of 2006, gave demonstrations and presentations during art classes.
Spring Band and Choral Concert
The week culminated with the annual Spring Band and Choral Concert, highlighting the efforts of students in Grades 4-8 this school year. From A Capella to band, choral pieces, and the Middle School jazz band, beautiful music impressed the audience during this memorable concert.
