Annual Fund Campaign 2019-2020: Year-End Giving

Did you know that on Giving Tuesday this week, we asked over 1,000 alumni and their parents to make a gift to WES in a competition between Blue and Gold spirit teams? The Gold Team won the challenge and 17 points will to the Gold Team on Field Day this spring.

December is a great time to make your gift to the WES Annual Fund! Each gift received provides a direct benefit to all WES students. It helps to advance and enrich the program, providing all students with the tools and experiences they need to realize their potential and to become kind, confident, and prepared individuals.

Thank you to all who have already supported this vital campaign with a gift or pledge!

For more information and to give, please click HERE or contact Annual Fund Co-Chair Michal Takem or Director of Development Claire Henderson (301-652-7878 ext. 212).

The deadlines for making a gift in 2019 are:

— Check: Envelope must be postmarked by 12/31/19

— Online: Gift must be made prior to 12:00 a.m. on 1/1/20

— Securities: Transfer must be dated no later than 12/31/19

— Please note that school offices are closed Dec. 21–Jan. 5

Advent Prayers

In Advent, Christians around the world focus on mindfully preparing for the celebration of Christmas. On Tuesday mornings in the season of Advent (Dec. 3, 10, and 17), all adults in the WES community are invited to a brief time of prayer in the Religion Room. We will share some prayers, some scripture, and some silence as we take the opportunity to slow down in a busy season. We will start at 7:40 a.m., and our interfaith-friendly prayer service will last about five minutes. Please contact Chaplain Kristen if you have any questions. No RSVP required.

Dr. Sandy Atkins, Executive Director, Creating AHAS at WES

We are excited to welcome Math Consultant Dr. Sandy Atkins to WES once more from Dec. 9-13. Dr. Atkins has consulted with and presented at schools and conferences around the world on math education, and we are privileged that she is visiting again this year. Dr. Atkins will be working with faculty throughout the week and will present a follow-up parent workshop on “Creating High Achievers in Math” on Thursday morning. Dr. Atkins will provide research and current thinking about children’s mathematical development and best practices in math programming and instruction. The session will also provide information and recommendations on how parents can support children’s mathematics development at home. Join us for the Math Consultant Parent Session on Thursday, Dec. 12, 8-9:30 a.m. in the Stuart Work Library.
